Marimekko's spring is bright. The interior decoration catalog 2009 features mismatching elements and strong colors. The style is surreal and bold but in the same time simplistic with a lot of geometric patterns.
Kanteleen Kutsu and Taikamylly designs created for Marimekko by Sanna Annukka tell stories from the Finnish epic, Kalevala. The designs feature animals and a mil giving the pattern a magical, fairytale like feel.
The
starting point for Maija Louekari’s Kippis design was an idea to
pattern a porcelain mug with crystal glasses and so make it fine for
serving celebratory drinks. Kippis is Finnish for "Cheers" and with its lovely design of goblets, it has a festive quality.
